MRG Web Development was founded in 2010 as a freelance venture and means of self employment by Mark R Glover. He'd originally been seeking a job in Plymouth, UK, having recently finished a graduate internship, but a shortage of jobs and an increasing awareness that he wanted to give up marketing and become a professional web developer (a hobby since his early teens) led to him taking the plunge and setting up in business.
Like many businesses, MRG Web Development was founded on a core belief in quality, both in workmanship and customer service. Mark feels that too many developers act like cowboy builders; taking advantage of the knowledge gap between themselves and their clients to get away with doing poor quality work and delivering bad advice. Being a self taught developer, Mark believes in self improvement and always working at the highest possible level. When he is asked to do something he can't do, he sees it as an opportunity to teach himself something new, rather than tell the client it can't be done. That is why the MRG skills list is constantly growing.
The business started with customising WordPress themes and accepting outsourced work from other developers. Whilst Mark still offers these services, after 6 months of trading he began to develop an independent system on which to build more custom websites for specialist purposes: Dominion CMS.
Today, MRG Web Development provides bespoke websites and other web based solutions to a wide range of small businesses, as well as acting as an occasional contractor to a number of other developers in the South West. Mark is always looking for new clients and new projects, so if you are looking for a web developer, please get in touch to discuss it.
About
About Mark
Mark Glover graduated from the University of the West of England, Bristol in 2009 and began his professional career immediately as an administrative assistant at technology firm Data2Impact. He moved to Plymouth later that year and spent the next 12 months as a temp and an intern with a number of public and private sector organisations.
A long time PHP hobbiest, Mark decided to turn professional in 2010, and, without the commercial experience to get a job with an existing development firm, founded MRG Web Development.
Away from work, Mark is a keen walker, kayaker, cook, science & technology enthusiast and book worm. He lives with his girlfriend in the centre of Plymouth and gets out into the fresh air as often as he can. You can read more about Mark on his personal site: markglover.co.uk.
